Hydrogen+. Can you introduce MovIAtech to us in a few words?
Phillip Van der Merwe. MovIAtech is a spin-off of LOJELIS, a French company active for 15 years in digital consulting and development, in Europe and the United States.
LOJELIS President Sylvain Jourdy had the idea of creating MovIAtech because he wanted the company to actively engage in the decarbonization of means of transport.
MovIAtech’s mission is therefore to increase sustainable mobility, through the design and development of innovative technological solutions.
We process all types of energy, while placing particular emphasis on hydrogen, in which we believe a lot.
What is your vision of tomorrow’s mobility?
We can already see big changes in the haUser attitudes. Driving license registrations have fallen by 20% over the past ten years and mobility as a service (MaaS) is growing at breakneck speed.
Tomorrow’s users will be increasingly aware and demanding. They will want to have access to clean mobility services, easily, quickly and everywhere, in the same way as when they owned their own vehicle. Hence the need to develop simple technological tools, oriented towards the end user. This is what we are doing.
How does MovIAtech fit into this new mobility landscape?
As part of our mission, we want to make using carbon-free energy vehicles as easy as using thermal vehicles, which is far from being the case today.
Let’s take the case of hydrogen vehicles. Their use is hampered by three major blocking points:
– There are few hydrogen stations. We are not sure of their availability when we need them;
– the price of energy is not known: whether for electricity or hydrogen, it is neither defined nor fixed;
– Current ecosystems operate in “silo” mode. The actors participating in them are not connected and do not communicate with each other. The user journey is all the more complicated.
To remove these obstacles, MovIAtech has developed a platform called Mobinow. Mobinow allows the user to manage their entire journey through a single platform, which connects all the players in the ecosystem. They can reserve a vehicle of any type of energy, plan their trips, plan and pay for their refueling using a single tool.
Mobinow also allows companies to manage their fleet, both for internal use and for sharing with other companies, while increasing the use of clean energy. We develop technology in favor of new mobility.
How can data help accelerate the adoption of clean energy vehicles?
Data is crucial because it facilitates the user journey.
For example, they help to alleviate range anxiety. Thanks to artificial intelligence, you can optimize your journey and therefore anticipate refueling. When a station identifies that a user is within its perimeter, it can encourage them to schedule a refueling appointment. For an electric vehicle, this means less waiting, fewer obstacles to identify yourself. For a hydrogen vehicle, this means that the station can prepare for refueling or even take the user to a closer station. The “fill” will be done in less than four minutes.
To quote Richard Thaler, Nobel Prize winner for Nudge Theory, “If you want someone to do something, make it easier.” We are just applying this principle.
