Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), one of the world’s pioneers in the production of green and renewable hydrogen for mobility and industry, announces the signing of a hydrogen sales contract with the company HYmpulsion, in charge of deploying the hydrogen infrastructure of the Zero Emission Valley (ZEV) project in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Since 2017, the ZEV project has aimed to develop, on the scale of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, a decarbonized, profitable and sustainable mobility sector, through the simultaneous deployment of green hydrogen production, storage and distribution infrastructures on the one hand, and the provision of hydrogen vehicles on the other. This project is led by HYmpulsion, whose shareholders are the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes Region, Engie, Michelin, Crédit Agricole and Banque des Territoires. Its objective is to make the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes region one of the first carbon-neutral territories at the European level and has also been selected by the European Commission as part of the 2017 European Blending Call.
By mid-2025, Lhyfe will build a green hydrogen production plant with a production capacity of 2 t/day (5 MW) in Le Cheylas (between Grenoble and Chambéry), on the former waste storage site of the steelmaker Ascométal. Lhyfe will thus contribute to reindustrializing the territory, and ensuring the transition of the local economy towards a more sustainable model. Hydrogen will be produced by electrolysis of water and from electricity from renewable energies.
This production site will meet the needs of the 7 hydrogen stations of the HYmpulsion company located in the Alpine arc, for a volume of 600 tonnes per year (i.e. approximately 1.6 t/day, after a ramp-up period) over a period of 10 years, as well as those of regional manufacturers, replacing grey hydrogen or natural gas.
Through this partnership, Lhyfe and HYmpulsion aim to promote the development of clean mobility and the improvement of air quality in the Alpine valleys.
For Thierry Raevel, President of HYmpulsion and Regional Director of ENGIE: “Beyond the national challenges of energy supply security, hydrogen meets a triple challenge for our territories: decarbonization of light and heavy mobility, improvement of air quality in our valleys, and creation of local jobs. We are proud to establish this partnership with Lhyfe for the production of renewable hydrogen. This project will allow us to supply the Hympulsion stations, in addition to the hydrogen from our 2 MW electrolyser (approximately 800 kg hydrogen/day).”
For Matthieu Guesné, founder and CEO of Lhyfe : « The project of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is ambitious and up to our energy transition challenges. We are proud to participate in its implementation en place and to contribute very concretely to the development of clean mobility in the regionThis partnership also confirms our ability to make long-term commitments to our customers, as is the case with HYmpulsion for which we will deliver green and renewable hydrogen over a period of 10 years.
