    The Hydrogen Business for Climate Forum stands out for the high quality of its speakers, its business opportunities, its links between territories, research and industry, but also for current debates where issues are posed directly. A look back at an unmissable international event anchored in the heart of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

    LBourgogne-Franche-Comté will host the Hydrogen Business for Climate Forum on October 3 and 4 at the ATRIA Congress Center in Belfort. “More than 400 French and European decision-makers will be able to benefit from high-level information and ideas for accelerating the Hydrogen energy transition in France and Europe,” says Véronique Wiss — Commissioner of the Hydrogen Business For Climate Forum. “Our mission is to open debates on current economic or technical topics by confronting points of divergence and convergence during our forum, in a constructive manner thanks to interventions supported by the best specialists. The themes of our conferences are at the heart of the concerns of industrial players, researchers or communities.”

    “The opening plenary session sets the stage with: “Europe of strong ambitions. Roadmaps to align?” It will lay the foundations for discussions on French, European and international strategy, including the issue of Europe’s regulatory positioning in the face of the US Inflation Reduction Act, and will provide an overview of the progress of hydrogen on different continents. The 10 conferences that will be offered over the two days will touch on themes “that are currently questioning manufacturers”, says Bruno Jamet — Director of Energy and Propulsion at the Pôle Véhicule du Futur, co-organizer of the event. “Thus, “E-fuels and H2: the future of the thermal engine?” will be an opportunity to show that, in addition to fuel cells, hydrogen mobility can also be structured around hydrogen and ammonia combustion engines for heavy-duty mobility in particular. Cost, performance, well-to-wheel analysis of GHG emissions, this debate will be an opportunity to lay out the directions of hydrogen mobility. Objective: to deploy technologies adapted to different scenarios and not to lock ourselves into an overly restrictive development plan.

    Other plenary sessions

    Another prospective plenary session, “H2 technologies: a risk of telescoping?”, which will allow a major debate on the different technologies between PàC, battery, H2 combustion engine or ammonia: each solution has its area of excellence (aviation, heavy maritime transport, etc.), technologies are evolving quickly: what will come of it?

    In another plenary session, we will discuss “Natural hydrogen: a future El Dorado?”, which is a potentially very important resource. The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region has reserves accumulated in the ground and created geologically by oxidation-reduction of water with ferrous minerals, by radiolysis of water, by ionizing radiation, etc. Natural hydrogen is an abundant resource close to the surface: what future?

    The other plenary sessions will address various themes: What place for liquid hydrogen in transport? Can we make low-cost hydrogen? Can hydrogen help solve the energy crisis? Transport and storage of hydrogen: how to make them more affordable? How to move faster to build a network of stations? Hydrogen from seawater?

    Times of meetings

    The Hydrogen Business for Climate Forum is also a time for meeting and sketching out joint projects with 6 eco/business or technological workshops between industrialists, public actors and researchers, always on current themes:

    – Production hubs for the decarbonization of industry

    – Best practices for successful scaling up

    – H2 and Artificial Intelligence;

    – Stationary applications: examples and perspectives in the world;

    – How to reduce the use of critical materials?

    – What are the next steps for hydrogen vehicles?

    “In addition to these workshops, we offer participants a platform to request and manage BtoB meetings (280 meetings made in 2022),” says Véronique Wiss. “The meetings take place in person during the forum and can be extended the following week remotely to maximize the time for discussion. We have 9 meeting times between these workshops, the evening, and the meetings. We will also offer participants a summary of the plenary sessions, both textual and visual, in order to provide them with an annual strategic compass.”

    The Hydrogen Business for Climate Forum is organized by the Pôle Véhicule du Futur with the support of the State, ADEME, the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, the City of Belfort and Grand Belfort, the Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération, in partnership with, among others, the AER BFC (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Regional Economic Agency), ADN FC (North Franche-Comté Economic Development Agency), the CCI of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, EEN (Enterprise Europe Network), FC Lab, Femto-ST, France Hydrogène, Hydrogen Europe, the Ministry of the Economy and the PFA. Bourgogne-Franche-Comté is an industrial and scientific land of excellence for the Hydrogen sector. It hosts a network of large groups, SMEs and startups across the entire value chain (particularly PàC). These intrinsic assets allow for operational meetings.

    Finally, these days will be an opportunity for the participant to meet more than 60 international experts, 1 Grand Témoin, Jean-Louis Etienne and 40 exhibitors from the entire hydrogen industry chain, with demonstrators within ATRIA and in an outdoor space. Exhibitors are selected by a committee of experts taking into account their contribution to the industry. For any information: www.hydrogenbusinessforclimate.com.
