Hydrogen Horizonsthe Content and Business meeting for industry players will be held on November 28 and 29, 2023 at the Rive Montparnasse Convention Center, with a major conference program.

Eight hundred professionals from the sector gathered over two days, one hundred sponsors and partners and one hundred and fifteen speakers are expected for this third edition of the congress which promises to be once again rich and intense in information and high-level debates, exchanges and commitments.

Through two days of strategic conferences, feedback from experiences and projects, innovative demonstrations from our Hynnovation partners and finally two-hour technical and educational training modules, Hydrogen Horizons offers a complete and unique panorama of the perspectives and opportunities linked to the developments of this still booming market and the opportunity to meet the players in the sector.

    Program for November 28

HAS 9 h a platform “ Geopolitics: what new challenges? » will be presented by Anne-Sophie Corbeau, researcher at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia and Mikaa Blugeon-Mered, lecturer in markets, diplomacy and geopolitics of hydrogen at Sciences Po.

Among the topics covered: Impact of international policies (USA and China in particular) and European policies. What solutions for clean hydrogen and profitable e-fuel projects? How to get out of the fight between European countries, faced with the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) ? What European response? What new economic balances due to changes in the costs of natural gas, electricity and carbon?

9 h 30 : First round table concerning news on the French and European regulatory package with Gauthier Martin, lawyer at the Court, Partner, Clifford Chance; Pierre Jérémie, deputy director of the office, Ministry of Energy Transition and Valérie Ruiz Domingo, vice-president Hydrogen Group, Engie:

    — After the PLF, the LEPC and the European reform of the electricity market, what SNBC?

    — What support mechanism for the production of low-carbon hydrogen?

    — Revision of the RED 3 directive: towards which decarbonization objectives and which sectoral targets?

The European response to the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act), what subsidies can be obtained to finance green factories and decarbonized processes, implementation of international and European policies?

The second point of view will be given to 11 h by David Pomonti, head of eco-technologies, BPI. On the program:

    — Roadmap of French and European public support, past and future: assessment and outlook;

    — Status of French and European public investments: PIIEC, Innovation Fund, AP of Ademe, PEPR-H2 of CNRS and CEA;

    — 2023 review: figures on the players and the sizes of the projects.

HAS 11 h 30a second round table « From R&D to industrialization of the hydrogen market » with the presence of Mareva Edel, Deputy CEO, Qair.

How to move from R&D to mass production and real, economically viable projects? From R&D issues to commercial issues? Towards the stage of industrial standardization? Before the gigafactoriesmedium-sized projects to quickly network the territory and develop new uses locally. What new projects or uses are in perspective?

HAS 14 hthe third round table will have the theme ” Hydrogen, a tool for decarbonization and re-industrialization » in the presence of Sébastien Douguet, director, Economic Advisory, Energy and Modelling, Deloitte; the head of the industry department at the DGE and Guillaume Lenoir, Senior Decarbonization Project manager, Yara.

    — Towards decarbonization of the entire sector, and not just of one player? From upstream to downstream, therefore, with the search for “sustainable” alternatives?

    — Decarbonization and hydrogen uses: what distribution between industries and mobility?

    — Impact of hydrogen development on reindustrialization and local redevelopment: hydrogen, a lever for our energy, industrial and technological sovereignty?

    — Decarbonization and international or French industrial investments? Given the attractiveness of certain countries, how should manufacturers choose?

15 h 00a round table will be devoted to industrial uses with Simon Métivier, Negawatt member and renewable gas project manager, Solagro Hynamics; Jérémy Assayag, energy purchasing and decarbonization director of the Arkema group and Max Gantet, French market development manager, Axpo.

    — How to change paradigm and evolve industrial processes from fossil to hydrogen? How to calculate carbon emissions, decarbonization and finance its cost?

    — How to reconcile the use of hydrogen and quality? And ensure the absence of quality impact, due to potential corrosion? How to ensure competitiveness for industries with low-carbon hydrogen?

At 4:30 p.mRaja Derham, head of projects and energy transition, Schiever and Nathalie Loch, Hydrogen project manager, AER Bourgogne Franche-Comté, will discuss mobility uses : where are we really?

    — Conflict over mobility technologies: combustion engine vs fuel cell?

    — And retrofitting, a miracle solution? A necessary solution for rapid decarbonization?

    — E-fuels, an alternative fuel?

    Program for November 29

Of the 9 hseveral themes will be addressed: Supply and competitiveness, how to lower production prices? How to secure your hydrogen supply? Will there be enough hydrogen for everyone?

At what price? With what guarantee of safety and quality?

HAS 9 h 30the round table will be devoted to hydrogen production with Nicolas Pélissier, co-founder & president, 45–8 Energy and Benoît Barrière, technology director, McPhy. On the agenda: Benchmark on electrolysis and battery solutions; from technologies to their performance and competitiveness, vision of production technologies, and alternative solutions to electrolysis, natural hydrogen, e-molecules: what strategies are the market-leading producers adopting?

HAS 11:30 a.m., public and industrial investments:

    — Beyond Capex aid, Opex aid?

    — How to reduce the uncertainty of electricity costs?

    — How to promote industrialization and hydrogen uses?

    — How to get out of aid and dependence on subsidies?…

HAS 2:00 p.m., Transport infrastructure, a growing link in the value chain, followed by 15 h of the storage problem, with Anthony Mazzenga, Development Director, GRTgaz; Sébastien Zimmer, Partner, Emerton; Ivan Faucheux, Member of the College, CRE and Charlotte Roule, General Manager, Storengy.

Finally at 16h30« Safety, acceptability and standards ” will be the subject of debates between Bertrand Walle, Climate and Energy Manager France, Borealis and President of the Gas Commission, Uniden; Alexandre Colombier, Energy and Services Manager, AFNOR and Lieutenant-Colonel Laurent Lecomte, Head of Training for Management and Specialty Jobs, Ensosp (National School of Firefighter Officers).

    — Safety constraints and moving towards greater acceptability. Towards specific standards for hydrogen?

    — What are the safety differences between hydrogen and natural gas? How can we bear, control and distribute the risks?

    — Standards, a tool to help with risk acceptability?

    — State of French, European and international standards and the potential impact on industrial competitiveness.
