Supported by the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, the industrial revitalization fund, the ISTHY project initiated by Rougeot Energie, now taken up by Inthy, producer of renewable energy and hydrogen and provider of decarbonized mobility solutions, will be able to materialize thanks to the partnership between Inthy and Bureau Veritas. Ultimately, ISTHY will constitute the first test site dedicated to hydrogen storage technologies in Europe.
While hydrogen is a key fuel for mobility and sustainable industry, the safety of hydrogen storage is posing today as a leading issue. One of the requirements to ensure the use of hydrogen is the implementation of tests in order to limit the risks. ISTHY, which is part of the Investment Program for the Future (PIA) set up by the State will be, without equivalent in Europe. He will meet the regulatory requirements for marketing and he will accompany future industrial successes.
The installations capable of carrying out development or certification tests are very limited. ISTHY will thus make it possible to carry out the development, manufacturing tests and ensure the certification of large quantity tanks, up to 1,400 liters intended for mobility.
David Carle, Office Director of Bureau Veritas Operation: ” We are delighted with this partnership. The project is unique in Europe by its magnitude. Thanks to him, Bureau Veritas actively participates in the boom in hydrogen in Europe. Member of the Hydrogen Council, Bureau Veritas has just created a center of excellence dedicated to hydrogen and derivatives. This additional initiative testifies to our commitment to support responsible progress of our customers and to build a world of trust. »
Dominique Darne, Inthy president: ” The protocol concerning the construction and operation of the Isthy test center that we have signed with Bureau Veritas confirms our commitment to develop the project for several years with the support of the region and the industrial revitalization fund and beyond the maturation of hydrogen mobility in France, in Europe and more generally in the world. Our association will allow France to have a unique test and certification tool which is key to the road, maritime and rail mobility industry using hydrogen. »
