A territorial hydrogen project can be adopted over the duration of an electoral mandate or an industrial investment plan. Because it covers both production and uses, sometimes between competitors, communities naturally find their place in supporting private actors. Mob’Hy is heir to the culture of co-development of renewable energy projects with elected officials and local residents. The latter are still shareholders of Vent d’Est, the parent company of Mob’Hy.
Mob’Hy brings the know-how of its design office which develops green hydrogen solutions from design to construction, including the evaluation of the competitive position, the negotiation of order books and the supply of production facilities. It benefits from the experience of its parent company Vent d’Est, specialized in wind, solar and biomass development, with a proven discipline of compliance with environmental, electrical and social constraints, particularly for territorial consultation. But Mob’Hy also has the culture of young growth in the business incubator of the University of Lorraine.
Vent d’Est wishes to set up around a hundred sites in Europe in line with its mission to generate cheap, renewable energy, which benefits as much as possible the inhabitants and customers of the territory hosting its infrastructures.
Hydrogen projects
Mob’Hy was created in 2020 for the study, development and management of hydrogen production and distribution installation projects on behalf of third parties. The growth of its activity will soon allow it to become independent and perhaps to cross the nearby borders of Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. Based on the intentions of an industrialist to purchase hydrogen and the goodwill of a community, Mob’Hy informs, studies, sizes and sets up a bankable project. Then, Mob’Hy can provide all or part of the project management assistance for the development, construction and operation of green hydrogen production facilities. “We are proud of our panel of French and international suppliers, lessors of guaranteed technologies or proven suppliers of critical services,” indicates Jean-Michel Sylvestre, general director. Mob’Hy also audits projects carried out by communities and manufacturers who wish a peer review before communication or financing. Mob’Hy poses another significant asset in a hydrogen project: the ability to bring together all parts of the ecosystem: transporters, industrial buyers of co-products, communities, land owners and donors of financing and subsidies. With an information system built on the Salesforce architecture for automation of contracts and their management over 40 years in compliance with GDPR regulations, Mob’Hy anticipates the merger, networking and growth of projects over time. The company can act as project manager of the ecosystem, with its expertise in land negotiation, identification of production sources, impact studies and instruction. Mob’Hy also has a geographical information system developed internally which integrates a database and a captive software package for potential deposits. The company is currently working on various projects based on local specificities such as incinerators, the dairy industry or wind-generated electricity production.
The actors gathered
“Our objective is to create technologically reliable, economically profitable and environmentally beneficial scenarios, integrating the entire life cycle of the project. In addition to technical knowledge, this involves a whole aspect of coordination and animation with numerous actors which is at the heart of our profession, explains Jules Piéton who is in charge of identifying the interlocutors and identifying the territory’s ecosystem. across the entire value chain, from production to consumption of hydrogen. In addition to the database managed by our GIS specialists and engineers, Mob’Hy project managers follow each mission from A to Z. From the potential deposit of a territory or a specific request, we are at even to offer the appropriate technologies. After having defined the project and the actors, the key to the success of a territorial and industrial ecology mixing public and private lies in discussion and exchanges with all the actors. Our role is also to implement the regulatory aspect and grant requests. Our interlocutors are also the regions and ADEME, actors involved in the deployment of territorial hydrogen projects. I would like to take this opportunity to say that we have the necessary responsiveness to put together a file for the third ADEME call for tenders, the deadline for which is September 14, 2021.”
