The Jupiter 1000 project, located in Fos-sur-Mer, France, represents a major step forward in the use of green hydrogen for the energy transition. At the heart of this innovative project, KROHNE brings its technical expertise by providing essential measurement solutions for the efficient management of hydrogen flows.

KROHNE, a recognized specialist in the field of instrumentation for the gas industry, played an important role in the success of the Jupiter 1000 project, coordinated by GRTgaz. This project aims to convert electricity, mainly from renewable sources, into green hydrogen by electrolysis of water. The hydrogen produced is then used either by direct injection into the natural gas network or by conversion into synthetic methane (CH4) via a methanation process.

Accuracy in measuring gas flow rates and compositions is a major challenge for the efficiency of these processes. KROHNE has addressed this need by providing tailored measurement solutions, including Coriolis mass flowmeters for green hydrogen and synthetic methane, a Vortex flowmeter for carbon dioxide, and ultrasonic flowmeters for natural gas.

KROHNE Coriolis mass flowmeters provide precise mass flow measurement, essential for optimizing production and injection processes. The Vortex flowmeter and ultrasonic flowmeters complete the measurement system, providing reliable data for the entire process.

The Summit 8800 flow computer, also supplied by KROHNE, is a key element of the measuring system. Its versatility allows the processing of measured values from different types of meters, thus optimizing investment and operating costs.

KROHNE’s expertise in providing accurate and reliable measurement solutions has helped reduce the operating and maintenance costs of the Jupiter 1000 project. This efficiency translates into significant savings, particularly in terms of pump and compressor capacity costs, thanks to reduced pressure drop.

The Jupiter 1000 project highlights the importance of advanced measurement solutions in the development of renewable energies. KROHNE, thanks to its technical expertise, asserts itself as a key partner in the realization of sustainable and efficient energy projects.

KROHNE’s involvement in the Jupiter 1000 project demonstrates its technical know-how and ability to provide innovative measurement solutions. This collaboration underlines the crucial role of strong technical partnerships for the success of ambitious and environmentally friendly energy projects.
